The American Kennel Club offers two main types of registration. One is called limited registration, and the other is called full registration. Full AKC registration means you have breeding rights and any puppies that come from your dog, when mated to another full AKC registered dog can be registered with the AKC. Most reputable breeders only offer limited registration on their puppies unless special arrangements have been made with the breeder.
At Rocky River Retrievers, we offer our puppies with limited registration. However in some circumstances we will allow for full registration if certain conditions are met including OFA hip and elbow testing, and EIC, CNM, and PRA-prcd genetic testing. Once these tests have been completed, we can upgrade your puppies registration for full for a $500 fee.
If you are interested in a full registration puppy please be sure to mention that upfront so that we can help you understand how the process works.
